You might have noticed that we've recently added notifications for Toca Boca World, so naturally some of you might have a few questions on this 🧐
Why are you introducing local notifications?
We've introduced local notifications to keep players informed about things that have been added to the game. Some content in the game will be around forever, but some things do have a limited time to claim, so we really want to keep players informed when there is something new to check out.
If I opt-in for notifications, what sort of notifications will myself or my kid get about the app?
All local notifications will be about content available for ALL players, so notifications won't be prompts to visit our shop and/or relating to content that needs to be purchased. So notifications could include:
- Gifts that are available to claim
- New features added to the game
- Seasonal updates and content changes in the game
What are "local" notifications and what is the difference with notifications from other apps?
For compliance reasons we can only deliver local notifications, this means the communication comes directly from the app itself.
We need to set this in advance and include it with updates, so due to this we have to do a bit of planning and crystal ball gazing 🔮 in advance to know what to inform players about. The one downside of this, is we can't notify you of new/live info about the game, i.e if we're having trouble with our servers and/or if we have a new bug which all players should be aware of. So be sure to keep an eye on this article as well as Portal for any up to date info if you're having problems!
Do you collect any additional personal information if I opt-in for local notifications?
No, if you opt in for local notifications no additional personal information is collected.
I've opted in for notifications, but now I want to opt-out, how do I do that?
We do hope that you enjoy getting local notifications, but it's also very easy to opt-out of local notifications and/or adjust the settings.
On iOS devices:
- Open the Settings App
- Open Notifications
- Scroll down to "Toca World"
- Togge off "Allow notifications" if you don't want any notifications, or if you're make any other adjustments to the settings you might want!
On Android devices running Google Play:
- Open Settings
- Choose Apps
- Scroll down to “Toca World” and there you should be able to choose “App notifications” and either toggle the notifications off or make any other adjustments to the settings you might want!
On Amazon devices:
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Navigate to Apps & Notifications (or just Apps).
- Scroll down to Notifications, then tap on “Toca World”
- Toggle the main switch to disable all notifications, or make any other adjustments to the settings you might want!
On PCs with Google Games for PC:- Open Google Play Games for PC
- Press your profile picture at the top left
- Press the cogwheel (Settings) button
- Scroll down to “Gameplay”
- Press “Notifications from your games on this PC”
- Press “Toca World”
- Toggle “Don’t allow”
